Two separate shootings at NJ gas stations

ELIZABETH Police say the dead man was discovered at the Shell Gas Station at Newark and Fairmont avenues just after midnight.

Eyewitness News is told he was found inside a black Cadillac Escalade, parked next to the gas station. He had been shot in the chest.

Employees said the victim was the owner of the gas station. Crying family members rushed to the scene.

Investigators collected evidence from an apartment building across the street from the gas station.

Meanwhile, in Newark a gas station worker was shot in the stomach during a robbery this morning.

Eyewitness News is told the 45-year-old employee was shot while working at the Exxon Gas Station on McCarter Highway at around 4:35 a.m.

The victim, who was reportedly pumping gas, was shot during a robbery attempt.

He was rushed to University Hospital in stable condition.

The suspects, described as two men, fled towards Clay Street in a grey SUV. No arrests were immediately made.
