Look great, spend less

NEW YORK Beauty director Leah Wyar, of Fitness Magazine, has tips on how to look great without paying department store prices. She has more on which local stores you should check out and what products to focus on getting while you're there.

BEST STORE FOR SKIN CARE:

Shop at: CVS/pharmacy, which has exclusive lines and imports like Lumene, a Scandinavian brand, and Boots, from the U.K. (a lot cheaper here than there!). Bonus: In-store beauty advisors are trained to help you identify your skin-care needs.

Stock up on:

Skin Effects by Dr. Jeffrey Dover Eye Effects Dual Action Under Eye Therapy, $19.99, with peptides to de-puff and fruit acids to lighten dark circles; Lumene Vitamin C+ Energy Cocktail Intensive Care, $19.99-a serum that's loaded with wrinkle fighting antioxidants.

BEST STORE FOR BODY:

Shop at: Wal-Mart, as always, gives you aisles and aisles of your favorite lotions, shower gels and scrubs. What is new: coveted, hard-to-find smaller brands like Noah's Naturals, a line made with organic ingredients-all at "rolled back," rock-bottom prices.

Stock up on:

St. Ives Cellulite Shield Gel Crème, $6.99, with caffeine to boost microcirculation; Tone Sugar Glow Exfoliating Body Wash, $3.50, which leaves skin soft and scented.

BEST STORE FOR MAKEUP:

Shop at: Target, where the beauty department has an affordable-luxury feel thanks to new upscale lines from world renowned makeup artists like Jemma Kidd. What Isaac Mizrahi does for cheap but chic clothing, these experts do for quality, pampering cosmetics.

Stock up on:

NP Set Lipstick in San Francisco, $15 - this gorgeous nude shade's ultra-hydrating formula lasts hours; Pixi by Petra Energy in Blush No. 2 Pick-Me-Up-Pink, $21, delivers a pretty flush.

BEST STORE FOR NATURAL PRODUCTS:

Shop at: Drugstore.com, which offers a huge variety of earth-friendly brands like Burt's Bees, Kiss My Face, Desert Essence and De-Luxe, all grouped together in the site's Green & Natural virtual aisle.

Stock up on:

Burt's Bees Peach & Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub, $8, which gently exfoliates Physicians Formula 100 percent Natural Origin Pressed Powder, $13.95, for guilt-free on-the-go touchups- the compact is completely recyclable.
