College student dies during jog

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. Hackettstown police said 22-year-old Benjamin Jurgensen of West Milford was found unconscious on the front lawn of a Washington Street home about 5 p.m. Monday. The site is not far from the college campus in Warren County.

Bystanders began performing CPR on Jurgensen before emergency medical responders arrived on scene. Jurgensen was then taken to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The death is not considered suspicious, but an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.

School officials say Jurgensen was a baseball player. Last season, he appeared in 14 games and went 1-5 on the season with 7.71 ERA. He threw 37 1/3 innings, with 28 strikeouts. He was a resident of West Milford and was majoring in business administration with a concentration in sports management.

The school released the following statement:

"The Centenary College community grieves the loss of Ben Jurgensen, 22, a Centenary senior who passed away suddenly last night. Our condolences are with Ben's family and everyone who knew and loved him. The Centenary College community will convene for a Gathering of Sharing tonight and counseling will be available for the Centenary community.
