Teen accused of threatening students

NEW YORK Police say the 18-year-old suspect sent the messages to a 12-year-old girl threatening to kill several mutual acquaintances but that's not all. He's also accused of possibly planning a suicide pact.

Some of his recent e-mails , police say, give explicit detail of torture and death to be inflicted on students.

"He wanted one individual to have a slow death. The other he wanted to cut off his legs and slit his throat," said Sgt. Todd Barone.

That's what police say Christopher Inserra had in mind for some students and former students at The Stonybrook School.

It's a private Christian boarding school where authorities say Inserra graduated last year, the same place he met and befriended a 12-year-old girl.

Through instant messages authorities say, Inserra kept in touch with the girl. During a cyber conversation Thursday they say Inserra revealed a 'hit list' to her, naming mutual school friends as people he would like to kill for allegedly being mean to him in the past.

Sgt. Barone adds, "But there is no cause to believe Mr. Inserra had the means to carry out these threats."

The Stonybrook School sent Eyewitness News a statement saying, "We are being advised by those involved in the investigation that they do not see any imminent threat to our campus, this individual is not permitted to be on campus, and as a precaution we have added additional campus security."

Police say the girl who's identity isn't being revealed because of her age, took the list to school administrators after other students told teachers what they knew through hearsay.

Inserrra, released on bail, lives in this home with his family in St.James. a hamlet on the north shore.

Noone would speak to Eyewitness News there.

But parents associated with the private boarding school say it's hard to take since the campus prides itself on developing character and leadership in every student.

Police also say the 18-year-old tried to make a possible suicide pact with the 12-year-old girl.

He is so far charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
