Worker rescued from vat of sludge

A worker was rescued after falling into a vat of sludge at a water pollution plant in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn. Eyewitness News is told the worker fell into the vat at the Newtown Creek Water Pollution Control Plant, on Greenpoint Avenue, just before 9:30 p.m. last night.

It reportedly took more than two hours to rescue the man from the sludge.

He was taken to Bellevue Medical Center in stable condition.
