Man murdered in Middletown

September 30, 2008 3:10:17 PM PDT
A man was found shot to death behind a restaurant in Middletown early Tuesday. Authorities say they received a call just after midnight of a man shot on Wickham Avenue, near Low Avenue, at the rear of the Perla Escondida Restaurant. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Antonio Emilliano Acevedo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is the fifth homicide in Middletown this year, but is also the third in last month.

In April, police say a 59-year-old man was stabbed to death while walking home less than a quarter mile away.

The corner of Wickham and Low avenues has been a notorious spot in Middletown. In late, 2006 the owner of a hair salon was killed in a murder-for-hire plot. That led the city to install cameras, which captured a bat attack on tape. That incident happened at the very restaurant where this homicide took place.
