A female armored car guard was robbed of a large amount of money and her weapon outside a bank in Kips Bay Tuesday morning. Police say the guard was attacked outside the M&T Bank at 397 1st Avenue just after 9:30 a.m.

The armored car guard, a woman, was reportedly attacked while either making a delivery or picking up money at the bank.

Police say she was put in a headlock by the suspect, who may have been armed with a knife.

The man then fled with her gun and a bag filled with hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to authorities. Published reports estimate the take at $300,000.

The guard was not seriously injured.

Police describe the suspect as a large man wearing a gray sweatshirt with a hoodie covering his face.

He fled the scene, but was captured on security cameras at the bank.
