Vandals destroy new eatery days before opening

Vandals didn't touch the cash register as they wrecked a family-style Mexican restaurant days before it opened in Sayreville. Eddie Munoz spent the past year and $200,000 transforming a former nightclub into Cabanas Bar and Restaurant.

Police say bar stools were cut, glass was smashed, a marble bar was damaged, DJ equipment was demolished, TVs were broken, and water was left running in the ruined bathrooms.

Munoz tells The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick whoever did it is evil. He's offering a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the culprits.

Munoz says he didn't have insurance yet. He says he'll just go forward.
