Ellyn Lerner used to lead a company that runs schools for the learning disabled. Now she's going to prison for three years for fraudulently overbilling New Jersey school districts more than $1.3 million.A state Superior Court judge in New Brunswick on Friday also fined the 56-year-old Long Branch woman $50,000 over the scheme.

Lerner pleaded guilty in June to misconduct by a corporate officer under a plea deal with the state.

Lerner was chief executive of Sayreville-based High Road Schools, which has since changed its name to New Road Schools.

State Attorney General Anne Milgram says the company has to hire an independent monitor who will report to the state.
