Suspect in double cop stabbing die

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. State police Capt. Wayne Olson confirmed Monday morning that 37-year-old Tymmogene Alves of Middletown had died. Olson said he didn't know when Alves died.

Alves had been hospitalzied since early Saturday morning, when he allegedly stabbed Middletown Detective Sgt. Gerald Mishk and state police Investigator Kevin McGrath after they saw him urinating in public.

Authorities say Alves was shot in the chest by another member of the state police.

McGrath was treated and released. Mishk under went surgery and remains hospitalized.

More information is expected to be released at a police news conference Monday afternoon.
