Postal worker accused of stealing checks

GREAT NECK Authorities say 23-year-old Antoine Patterson, a Postal Service employee assigned to the Great Neck Post Office, stole checks belonging to an unidentified 63-year-old Great Neck resident on his route.

He allegedly paid his bills using routing numbers from the checks.

Patterson, of the Springfield Gardens section of Queens, was arrested following a joint investigation by Nassau police and U.S. postal inspectors.

He is charged with falsifying a business record, petit larceny, identity theft and unlawful possession of personal identification information.

He was arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
