Grave of first Ellis Island immigrant marked

NEW YORK Annie Moore, buried in Queens with six of her children, was only 17 when she sailed to America from County Cork, Ireland, in 1892.

On Saturday, the blue limestone cross was placed on her grave at Calvary Cemetery in Queens' Woodside neighborhood.

Bagpipes accompanied the emotional ceremony, with her descendants, clergy and Irish admirers attending.

Moore's unmarked grave was discovered only two years ago.

Niall Burgess, the Irish consul general in New York, says she stands for the hundreds of thousands of Irish people who settled in New York.
