ELIZABETH, N.J. Elizabeth police spokesman William Reyes says a security camera recorded a woman in a "bushy black wig" removing 3-year-old Jessica Alexandra Alvarez from the toy section of the Unique Thrift Shop in Elizabeth as the girl's mother shopped nearby.

It happened around 11:00 Thursday morning.

Investigators circulated a photo of the suspect. She was later identified as 54-year-old Yvonne B. Alexander.

After an intense manhunt, police surrounded a minivan at Clothier and Grand Avenue in Rahway shortly after 5:00.

Newscopter 7 was over the scene when police removed the girl from the minivan and placed her into an ambulance.

Investigators said she was not injured, but she was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Alexander was arrested by Rahway police. She was being given a psychiatric evaluation.
