The only member of his family to survive an inferno in their Chelsea apartment has died. Jonzan Balbuena Valdez, 10, died at Jacobi Medical Center shortly after being taken off life support on Thursday.

Jonzan was pulled from the fire that consumed his family's apartment in the Robert Fulton Houses.

His parents and three younger siblings were killed in the fire on Saturday.

Investigators believe the fire was accidentally sparked by one of the children playing with matches.

The apartment's smoke detector was found melted by the searing heat. Its battery had been removed and the wires disconnected, the Fire Department said.
