Fire delays opening of New Providence schools

All New Providence schools will have a delayed opening this morning following a fire at the high school and middle school. The fire broke out inside the Pioneer Drive building that houses the high school and middle school sometime after 6 a.m.

Heavy smoke spewed out of the boiler room and through a roof vent. Because of the fire, all New Providence District Schools will have a delayed open until 10 a.m. this morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
