Gunfire wounds girl, 5, in Queens

QUEENS Jakelyn Delgado was with her father on Himrod Street when the gunfire broke out at around 9:20 p.m. Monday night.

Police say two groups of men began arguing and then shots started flying.

"It appears this was a dispute between two gangs, the Triniterios and the Blood members. The Triniterios were sitting on stoop and they saw approximately ten members of the Bloods approaching," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly explained.

The gunfire soon followed. One bullet struck 5-year-old Delgado and collapsed her lung.

She was rushed to nearby Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and then transferred to Cornell in Manhattan where she remained in stable condition.

Another bullet struck 27-year-old Francisco Dejesus. Commissioner Kelly said Dejesus was involved in the shooting.

Still another bullet blasted through Donna Hulser's bedroom window. She was located in the next room at the time.
