A spokesman for the department says that's earlier than last year, but not unusual overall.
The federal Centers for Disease Control says the vaccine supply will be adequate: about 146 million doses this year, significantly more than in the previous two years.
This year's vaccine protects against three strains of the flu, rather than the one or two targeted in previous years.
