State health officials say the flu has reached Connecticut. The state Department of Public Health says it started receiving sporadic reports of flu cases in September.

A spokesman for the department says that's earlier than last year, but not unusual overall.

The federal Centers for Disease Control says the vaccine supply will be adequate: about 146 million doses this year, significantly more than in the previous two years.

This year's vaccine protects against three strains of the flu, rather than the one or two targeted in previous years.

The American Lung Association says people can find out where to get flu shots in their area by checking FluClinicLocator.org.
