Conn. standoff ends peacefully

DANBURY, Conn. Police say they responded to the building on Lake Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday after several 911 call hang-ups from within the apartment.

The standoff ended about an hour later when crisis negotiators talked Cesar Pintado out of his apartment and the four other people were brought to safety. Officers had thought they heard a weapon being loaded during the negotiations and evacuated neighboring homes, but no weapons were found.

Pintado was charged with interfering with police and breach of peace. He's being held on $10,000 bond.

Police did not say what led to the standoff.
