Police charge woman with killing baby

STAMFORD, CT Officers arrested Angelina Sarmiento Thursday night and jailed her on $1 million bond. She was to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Friday.

Police say the baby was found Thursday morning on Henry Street in the city's South End and was pronounced dead a short time later at Stamford Hospital. Authorities say the infant apparently died within hours after being born.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death and whether the baby was born alive.
