Road signs to reflect Triborough renaming

NEW YORK (AP) - New York City officials plan to change road signs and launch an ad campaign to let people know that the Triborough Bridge is being renamed after Robert F. Kennedy. Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chief Elliot Sander says that references to the Triborough Bridge on road and toll plaza signs will soon reflect the bridge's new name.

The bridge is expected to be formally renamed on Nov. 19 in honor of the New York senator who was assassinated in 1968 while campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Advertisements about the name change are being printed on the backs of 6 million MetroCards. Posters will be placed in subways and buses.

The Triborough Bridge is actually a complex of three spans that connect Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens.
