Obama pastor criticizes media at forum

Barack Obama's former pastor is criticizing the media's coverage of a controversy that caused the president-elect to distance himself from his pastor during the presidential campaign. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. spoke Thursday night to about 200 people at a Milford, Conn., church during a forum about race and religion.

Wright became well-known earlier this year after videotapes surfaced showing the pastor making anti-American statements from the pulpit of the Chicago church where Obama had worshipped for 20 years. Obama eventually severed ties with Wright.

Wright says the quotes were taken out of context. He says he was trying to describe the anger that people felt following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
