Councilman says he'll quit drinking after arrest

Jersey City councilman Steven Lipski says he'll stop drinking after his weekend arrest for reportedly urinating on a crowd of concertgoers in a Washington, D.C., nightclub. Lipski has been charged with simple assault.

He tells The New York Daily News he won't touch alcohol again, calling the incident "deeply humiliating" and "troubling."

However, the newspaper says he refused to admit that he relieved himself from the second-floor balcony of the Club 9:30 Friday night during a concert by a Grateful Dead tribute ban.

Messages left at Lipski's council office, and a Jersey City listing under his name were not immediately returned Monday.

Jersey City Councilwoman Willie Flood told The Jersey Journal that Lipski is saying it was a spilled drink that fell on other Grateful Dead fans.
