STATEN ISLAND --
A hit-and-run victim who fought for life for a week after being struck by a car in the Dongan Hills section of Staten Island has died. 55-year-old Antonio Romano was struck by a car Nov. 3 on North Railroad Avenue, near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue. Romano suffered massive head trauma in the crash and lingered in critical condition for a week.
He died at 8:48 p.m. last night at Staten Island University Hospital North.
The vehicle that struck Romano fled the scene, and authorities are still looking for the driver.
