Pit bull attacks pregnant woman

BRONX Authorities say the dog attacked near the intersection of East Tremont Avenue and Boston Road just before 8:30 a.m.

The victim, a 44-year-old pregnant woman, was reportedly bitten in the ankle and rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital.

She was listed in stable condition.

A responding transit officer opened fire on the pit bull, an apparent stray, killing it. The transit officer was also bitten on the hand during the melee.

He was treated for the injury.
