Props for Today having a sale

NEW YORK And the items make for great conversation pieces. Tell all your house guests that the couch they're sitting on is from a soap opera, and they may enjoy their time at your place even more.

"We have 85,000 feet filled with everything you can think of," said Dominique Montelbano, of Props for Today.

Well, it's mostly furniture - tables, chairs and such - but just about everything has appeared on the small or big screen. They are all props that get rented out for sets.

Lots of the items have been used on soap operas or on Saturday Night Live, and some are used for gala parties. One chaise was rented by Gossip Girls. Saavy viewers may recognize some items.

Sometimes, it's better no knowing how something was used, especially if you want to call it your own. Everything is for sale, because it's time for the Props for Today company to move its inventory. So why not move a bar into your home that was used by Dick Clark in his Rockin New Year's Eve shows?

There are even items by high-end designer Knoll and Stark. All of them are drastically reduced, you've just got to have an eye.

And since all the items are used, the prices are marked way down. The sale begins Saturday. All merchandise is sold as is, and all sales are final. Full payment is due at the time of the purchase. Cash, Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

The dates and hours:

  • Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
