The mayor of Yonkers says he's cutting at least 200 city jobs by the end of the year. The personnel cutback is one element of Mayor Phil Amicone's plan to fill a $16 million deficit in the current fiscal year, which ends next June.

The mayor says he's also eliminating a 2009 police academy class and expanding a hiring freeze to all departments.

Amicone says other measures include a 75 percent cut in spending on outside consultants and a request to city unions to reopen their contracts.
