Arrest made in Staten Island sex assault

STATEN ISLAND Thomas Fields was arrested at around midnight after detectives received a tip. He was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual act.

Fields was convicted of rape as a juvenile offender in 2001 for two rapes he committed when he was just 15 years old.

He was released on parole since Nov. 20, 2007.

He has also been suspected, but not charged, in several other sexual assaults.

According to the state's sex offender registry Web site, Fields was released on several conditions.

He's prohibited from consuming alcohol or going to bars, was on a curfew, and is required to attend a sex offender treatment program and take regular polygraph tests.

He also must submit to drug and alcohol tests, and is prohibited form taking sexual enhancement drugs.
