LI doc arrested in ailing wife's death

MINEOLA, N.Y. Nassau County detectives say Dr. Rajasekar Sham was arrested Wednesday in the death of Lucila Sham. The 69-year-old woman, who police say was terminally ill, was found dead in the couple's home on Tuesday evening.

Dr. Sham, who is 68, was taken to a hospital the same night.

Police would not describe details of the couple's injuries, other than to say they were "cut." An autopsy revealed Lucila Sham bled to death.

Dr. Sham remained in a hospital in stable condition on Thursday; his arraignment has yet to be scheduled. His attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
