Deli owner says police targeted business

WHITE PLAINS Haifi Tamimi filed a federal civil rights lawsuit accusing the city of Yonkers and 14 of its police officers of targeting her downtown deli by selectively enforcing a local ordinance requiring businesses to close between midnight and 6 a.m. She claims the officers told her Muslims did not contribute to the city.

She also claims much of the harassment was directed at her following the Sept. 11 attacks.

Yonkers City Counsel Frank Rubino said he was unable to comment on the lawsuit because the city had not yet been served with the complaint.
