Man accused of arson in ex's building

NEW ROCHELLE Prosecutors have charged New Rochelle resident Walter Devivo with 24 felony counts including arson, burglary, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.

Prosecutors say he first set a fire in a hallway leading to his ex-girlfriend's apartment, cutting off her escape route. They say the woman put out the flames. He was charged with arson and ordered to stay away from her.

Seven months later, they say he drove a U-Haul truck through the garage at her building. They allege he returned a few days later and set a fire in the garage.

The 46-year-old pleaded not guilty Friday in Westchester County Court.
