A 49-year-old woman is dead, and her husband is accused of murder. Police were called to the scene at 2986 Lawton Avenue in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx just before 6:00 p.m. Friday.

Neighbors had heard screams for help. Police say the 69-year-old husband had stabbed in wife, then tried to run off.

Neighbors say his adult son tackled him. The man then barricaded himself inside a room in the house, they said.

Investigators found Xiomara Luciano Gil with multiple stab wounds. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police arrested her husband. Charges were pending. The motive was not known.

The couple has three children and two grandchildren, according to neighbors. They described the husband as a hard working cab driver. They said his wife was a dedicated churchgoer.
