The New Jersey Devils will be without defenseman Mike Mottau for two games. Mottau was suspended by the National Hockey League for elbowing for elbowing New York Islanders forward Frans Nielsen in a game last night.

The hit occurred early in the third period. Nielsen had to be helped off the ice with head and leg injuries. Mottau only drew a minor penalty for elbowing.

New York captain Bill Guerin compared it to the elbow by Islanders defenseman Thomas Pock on Ottawa's Ryan Shannon that earned Pock a five-game suspension.
