Rell orders increased patrols on trains

Gov. M. Jodi Rell is ordering more patrols on Connecticut's rail lines following the warning of a possible terror attack on New York City's mass transit system. Rell says she has been monitoring the situation with state federal officials.

The stepped-up patrols, also at the state's rail stations, began Wednesday. They will run through Sunday night.

Earlier Wednesday, federal authorities warned police of an unsubstantiated report that al-Qaida operatives discussed an attack on New York's subway system or rail lines like Amtrak and the Long Island Rail Road.
