Student dies in head-on crash

The Thanksgiving holiday ended in heartache for the family of a college student home for the holiday. 21-year-old Jason Shein,, who was studying to be a doctor, was struck and killed in a head-on collision by a suspected drunk driver in Farmingdale.

The other driver, Esquivel Persi, survived the crash.

According to the Long Island Press, Persi was crossed the double yellow lines near Conklin Street, and collided head on with the car driven by Shein.

Shein was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in Shein's car required medical treatment at Nasau County Medical Center. A third passenger was listed in serious condition.

Persi faces several charges including manslaughter and DWI . He was already on probation for a prior drunk driving conviction.
