Power restored to all affected in N.J.

MONMOUTH COUNTY Spokesman Pete Johner says service was restored to the remaining customers at 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Johner says the fire destroyed the transformer at the Ocean View substation in Neptune Township and repairs could take days. Workers shifted the circuits to get electricity flowing again.

The fire caused some high voltage transformers to trip off-line, triggering the outage in Monmouth and parts of Ocean counties around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The outage knocked out traffic lights, snarling motorists during the evening commute.
