Snow grounds hundreds of flights

NEW YORK More than 800 hundred flights were canceled at the three major airports in the New York City area because of the winter storm on Friday.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Steve Coleman says most of the cancellations - 428 - were at Newark Liberty International Airport. One-hundred-three flights were canceled at Kennedy Airport and 275 were canceled at LaGuardia.

Delays as long as four to five hours were also reported.
