Holiday mystery in Lindenhurst

LINDENHURST They're calling it a holiday mystery in the Long Island town of Lindenhurst.

A couple found the statue on their front lawn. So they brought it back.

The receptionist was so dumbfounded, she didn't even get their names.

So who stole it? And who returned it?

It all began when Alissa Alfar answered the phone and the caller asked if Baby Jesus was missing. She said yes, and a few minutes later a couple showed up carrying the baby.

Town Supervisor Steve Bellone is asking that man and wife to come forward. They didn't give their names to Alfano. They said they found the statue on their front porch.

Police are also looking for some help in finding the vandals. Not only did Baby Jesus get taken, but the Virgin Mary was damaged as well.
