Route 3 in Clifton, Route 280 in Verona, Interstate 80 in Hackensack and Interstate 78 in Berkeley Heights were all closed due to multiple accidents. Several of the crashes involved jacknifed tractor trailers.
The Driscoll Bridge in Sayreville was also temporarily closed by numerous spinouts. About 25 cars were involved in crashes on Garden State Parkway.
The NJ Turnpike Authority dispatched sanders to de-ice the Garden State Parkway and NJ Turnpike.
