Police say it looks like robbery was the motive that led to a senior citizen being the first person murdered in New York City this year. He was found dead New Year's day. His killer is still on the loose.

Police sealed apartment 7D as they try to figure out who killed Delinor Dorissaint and why.

Investigators say the 67-year-old's apartment at 340 Maple Street was ransacked, but don't know what if anything was taken.

The Medical Examiner's office says the cause of death is blunt force injury to the head with brain hemorrhage and brain injury.

They don't know with what he was hit or how many times.

Detectives won't say how long he was dead before they found him inside the home in the Prospect Lefferts Garden section of Brooklyn.

Neighbors say they didn't hear or see anything strange.
