New Jersey Viewpoint

NEW JERSEY Every Sunday morning over 36,000 households tune in to "New York Viewpoint," "New Jersey Viewpoint," and "Long Island Viewpoint." The programs highlight the community and cultural efforts that enrich the quality of life in our neighborhoods.

These weekly round-table discussions are hosted by Eyewitness News anchor Ken Rosato. Viewpoint airs at 5:30am on Sunday morning.

This week on New Jersey Viewpoint: March 16th, 2014 (Originally aired on January 5th, 2014)
Today we bring you the North Jersey Arts and Science Charter Schools who are using technology to deliver the curriculum to their students. We also have with us a young author who has advice for other teens in a new book.

But first, we bring you some important information on Ovarian Cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 22,000 women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer this year and about 15,500 women will die from the disease.

Joining us in the studio, from the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center, at Overlook Medical Center are, Dr. Daniel Tobias, the Medical director at the Women's Cancer Center, Dr. Brian Slomovitz, the Director of Oncology Research, and Jocelyn Alfandre, a patient with ovarian cancer.

We bring you the Italian American One Voice Coalition which concerns itself with any discrimination or negative stereotyping suffered by Italian Americans. We also will have with us an organization called "One Heart for Haiti" that is doing some amazing work in that country.

But first, we bring you the Lowenstein Center for the Public Interest. It is basically the pro bono arm of the law firm Lowenstein Sandler, which has been committed to advancing the public interest and serving the communities in which its members live and practice.

Joining us in the studio are Catherine Weiss, who Chairs the Lowenstein Center for the Public Interest Wayne Meyer, President of New Jersey Community Capital (also known as NJCC) and Jonathan Wishnia, who is a Partner in Lowenstein Sandler's Mortgage Banking and Finance Group.
