Cops: LI man stabs pit bull to death

MIDDLE ISLAND Suffolk County police say 36-year-old Lamont Yarborough stabbed the pit bull, named Buster, multiple times in the family's home in Middle Island. Police and officers from the Suffolk Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were called to the home at about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Yarborough, a driver for a private ambulance company, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip and was released without bail. Defense attorney Michael Brown said Yarborough was defending himself and his 8-year-old son from the dog, which he described as a "vicious animal."
