Deadly train accident in New Jersey

LINDEN, N.J. New Jersey Transit officials said a person was struck at the Linden train station just before 6:00 p.m.

North Jersey Coast and Northeast Corridor trains were suspended in both directions in Linden.

Westbound service on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line branches resumed just before 6:30 p.m. Eastbound (city bound) service resumed just after 7:00 p.m. Both lines were reporting 20-30 minute delays. Eastbound trains were bypassing Rahway and Linden stations while the investigation continued.

A separate New Jersey Transit issue was causing problems elsewhere. Due to switch problems, trains on the Main/Bergen, Pascack Valley, and Port Jervis Lines were operating 15 minutes late.
