LI Democrat fuming over Senate pick

A Long Island congresswoman is fuming over the choice of a fellow Democrat from upstate New York to fill the vacant U.S. Senate seat. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy says she is mulling a primary run next year against Kirsten Gillibrand.

McCarthy was elected after her husband was killed and son wounded in the 1993 Long Island Rail massacre. She says her colleague's stances on gun control are unacceptable.

McCarthy, a longtime advocate for gun control, says she'll either run in a primary next year to oppose Gillibrand, or will support an alternative candidate.

In an interview, McCarthy said: "One way or another we're not going to be having an NRA member representing New York state."
