Husband pleads not guilty in teacher murder

MINEOLA, N.Y. William Walsh led authorities on a high-profile search for teacher Leah Walsh over several days.

On Tuesday, he was arraigned in Nassau County Court. In addition to murder, the indictment charges the stockbroker trainee with possessing a knife and tampering with evidence.

Police say the 29-year-old special education teacher was choked in October after her husband returned from a trip to Atlantic City. Police called it "a domestic situation gone extremely bad."

Her body was dumped near the Long Island Expressway.

Attorney William Petrillo said he planned "a compelling and truthful defense to these allegations."
