Arrest made in Brooklyn hit and run

BROOKLYN Eyewitness News has learned that police arrested 18-year-old Samuel C. Branch of Brooklyn.

The teen suspect is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident and unlicensed operation.

The accident happened at 3:15 p.m. at Marcy Avenue and Quincy Street in the Bed-Stuy section on Friday.

Police say the driver, of a Black 1988 Mercedes Benz, believed to be Branch, somehow struck a tree, then jumped the curb striking two children on the sidewalk.

The boys are brothers, 16 and 4 years old. They were walking home from school, police said.

Investigators are looking for the driver, who took off on foot. Police said the car had South Carolina license plates.

The boys, identified by relatives as Dillan Jackson and his elder brother Dwayne, 16, were hospitalized in stable condition.

The 4-year-old was the more injured of the two, suffering a broken pelvis and a broken leg.

The boys' father died in 2005, said their uncle, Jerome Matthews, 27. The older boy is a junior at the Brooklyn High School of the Arts, he said.
