Moving without cardboard boxes

NEW YORK But that's how one company operates, and helping the environment is just one of the benefits.

"I hate moving, does anyone like moving?" asks Matthew Fries. During his recent move, Fries hired a company with a wacky name, Movers, not Shakers. But the company is actually shaking up the moving industry with plastic bins. The same kind of bins some food products are transported in.

So for the resident, it's convenient. No setting up cardboard boxes, using lots of tape. Instead, the movers drop off the bins and you or they pack them up.

Once the move is over, no need to crush those cardboard boxes or put them on the curb, the movers just cart away the bins.

The bins can be used hundreds of times before they wear out.

Cardboard boxes may get a handful of uses before they're no good.

The bins are cheaper than the cardboard boxes, by one to two dollars depending on the size.

While cardboard is recyclable, the plastic bins can are re-usable, an option considered to be greener than recycling.
