Laundromat employee raped, robbed

Police are searching for a rapist who attacked and robbed a female employee inside an Manhattan laundromat.The incident happened around 7 a.m. Tuesday near 2nd Avenue in East Harlem. The 38-year-old victim was opening the business at the time.

Police say the suspect pretended to be a customer, grabbed the woman and forced her into a back room. After a brief struggle, authorities say he forcibly raped and sodomized her. The suspect then removed an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s. He is approximately 6-foot-3 and weighs about 200 pounds. He was wearing a black/blue leather jacket with white stripes running along the sides and the back of the jacket, a white hoodie, a blue shirt under the hoodie, a gray baseball cap, blue jeans and black sneakers.
