NJ Transit delays easing up

February 5, 2009 4:17:15 PM PST
NJ Transit rail riders should be back on track by the evening ride home. Repairs have been made to wires that caused delays in and out of New York's Pennsylvania Station this morning. Amtrak says wire problems in a tube beneath the Hudson River started around 6 a.m. and caused delays up to 90 minutes.

The tube reopened at 9:10 a.m. but residual delays continued.

Amtrak's problems also affected service on NJ Transit, which uses some of the same tracks.

NJ Transit afternoon and evening service should be OK.

Amtrak operates trains to and from New Jersey, Washington D.C., Connecticut and Massachusetts.
