Livery cab driver shot in the Bronx

THE BRONX The victim's coworker says the 46-year-old man was turning over the cab, something they did every morning around 4 a.m.

But instead of getting a knock at the door this morning he heard gunshots, something that startled neighbors too.

"I was sleeping. I heard a comosion outside then I heard a shot. Then i heard the car screeching off," said one neighbor.

Just after 4 a.m.neighbors heard the bone chilling shooting.

Police say two men with guns walked up to a 46-year-old livery cab driver and demanded the victim's car.

The men got into an argument, and the suspects shot the driver in the neck according to police.

Police say the gunmen then pulled the bleeding victim out of the car, left him in the street and drove off .

They were last seen on Southern Blvd.

Newscopter 7 was over the scene on Rogers place in the Longwood section of the Bronx as police investigated.

The victim's coworker was too distraught to talk on camera but says the victim works at Dat car service.

From his apartment, neighbor James Snyder heard the victim wail in pain.

"It was short very short quick I hope the guy comes out alright."

The victim is in critical condition at Lincoln hospital.
