NYer doused with tequila, set on fire

NEW YORK Police say 24-year-old Epigmenio Garcia had asked the friend to leave his home in Westbury, Long Island early Sunday.

When the man refused, police say, Garcia hit him, poured tequila on him, and set him on fire with a lighter.

The victim suffered second-degree burns to his face, ears, neck and hands.

Garcia, an unemployed landscaper, was arraigned Monday on charges of assault and possession of weapons - the tequila and the lighter.

The Nassau County district attorney's office says Garcia was ordered held on $400,000 bond or $200,000 cash. He is being represented by a public defender, whose name was not immediately on record.
